I'm looking to develop a robust database system that will serve two primary functions - managing our customer information and our product inventory for our artwork subscription service. The objective is to streamline our operational processes, ensuring accurate tracking, and efficient handling of our core business data.
We currently have a Google Sheet with many variations, and have made a Loom video explaining how we currently process which we will share with the freelancer we go with.
Key Requirements:
- The database should be designed to store and manage customer information and product inventory details.
- It's expected to comprise between 5 to 10 tables to accommodate the different data facets, including but not limited to, customer details, product specifications, stock levels, and inventory movement.
- The key factor in our process so far is that each customer receives a different artwork, every single time. As we process each order, we record the exact artwork they receive, and our promise is that they will never receive the same artwork twice. Currently in our google sheet there is validations set up and an inventory of artworks that is assigned to each person.
- We also ship monthly and quarterly, and the database should easily show us which customers are to be packed for that month.
- The system should be capable of generating reports that provide insights into inventory levels, product movement, and customer interactions.
- While the database isn't required to support online transactions or payment processing, it must be scalable enough to potentially integrate these features in the future.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in database design and development, with a strong understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent.
- Experience in creating scalable database architectures, preferably with a portfolio demonstrating past work on inventory and customer management systems.
- Strong analytical skills to understand our data requirements and translate them into an efficient database structure.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices in securing customer information.
We also would like to look into more Zapier integrations between thrivecart and Airtable to streamline the customer process.
By undertaking this project, you'll be playing a crucial role in optimizing our business operations. Your expertise will not just contribute to the structuring of our data but will also lay down the foundation for incorporating advanced features in the future.
