Hi, I have a great deal of experience in both Microsoft Access and MySQL. For a specifically data centric system and to be delivered to multiple users in multiple companies, we will need to push the envelope of both these frameworks in order to deliver the best application package. We will employ and configure MySQL to provide a scalable and unattended back-end in order to store millions of records and export large data deliveries on a periodic basis. The Access front-end will be designed to present and search large data sets in a user friendly manner. Where Access falls short we will build custom controls and forms to go beyond the mere Office document status and in to the true application domain. Visual Basic for Applications, powerful that it is, will be employed to provide unbeatable user interface logic that ensures a fluid and responsive user interface, despite the large volumes of data. Active-X Data Objects will be used to provide efficient and flexible access to the underlying MySQL database, where accuracy is also a prime concern. A dynamic link library and Power-shell scripts will be used to extend MySQL with operating system level tasks, to incorporate .NET functionality, and to integrate with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) to provide workbook exports and HTML emails.
