Random Question Generator
We are looking to create a data base that can store individual questions as separate cells of information. This is a platform for kids [login to view URL] plan is for the data to be stored and randomly selected from it according to our needs it will be a website that is fast and can be assessed [login to view URL] will have three different subjects:MATHS, ENGLISH & SCIENCE, which will be broken down into individual topics and then each topic will have key subheadings. Within each subheading there will be an ever-growing amount of data being added on a ‘weekly’ basis, so inputting the data must be an easy process. Each subheading will have two levels of complexity Beginner and Deeper Study.
The database will be used to create worksheets used to assist studying; however, the algorithm needs to be able to understand each separate subheading and be able to use key words (preferably selectable from drop down menu’s) to make a selection of questions. For EXAMPLE:
I want Four questions from each sub headers. Fractions (Data cell Heading): equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions (both from cell sub heading and 2 question from each), I then want three questions from Shapes(Data cell Heading) : properties of 2d and 3d, (both from cell sub heading one question from 2d shapes and two questions from 3d shapes)
and four questions from
Time(Data cell Heading) : Digital and Analogue (both from cell sub heading and 2 question from each) and finally three questions from
Money (Data cell Heading) : Change (Single selection from cell sub heading but 3 questions picked) .
As shown with the example above there is a main topic and under that subtopics are chosen depending on the amount of sub topics you want to cover and I have shown this by picking two from some and one from the other.
This will create 14 questions on one worksheet spaced evenly across an A4 page .(depending on how many pages, selected questions fits in)
This will then be possible for both Science and English too as I am only using maths as an example for now.
The questions will vary in style too, for example English questions can include short stories for the comprehension questions, the science topics will require images and diagrams for most of the topics. However, for the maths questions they will vary massively as some questions require graphs or charts, some require progressive questioning (for example: there can be five questions all linking to one another) Please see attached screen shots of examples. I have added screen shots of some websites that already allow for customised worksheets. The problem with these sites is that they do not allow for crossing subheadings, you can only create worksheets based on the combinations that they provide you (e.g: addition and subtraction and other related topics)
I have included a detailed list of the topics and subheadings that will need to frame the database.
I have used a large variety of different free and paid for resources to create my own worksheets for my Home Schooling journey, however I have found that the free resources are next to impossible to use on smaller screens, as the pop-up adverts block too much of the screen for ease of use.
As you can see from the examples uploaded, the data that will need to be stored is extensive and varies massively in style and length. The database will need to be able to store any layout of question, but the algorithm must be able to select a different number of questions from any number of subheadings within that subject.
