design an electronic circuit to sense motor current

Hello ... First I must analyze the circuit to know what type of current detector use. We may use operational amplifiers or a small transistor to work in saturation and cut depending on the amount of current is handled . In either case the circuits are simple and they work fine . Hi, The best way to monitor the dc motor current is shunt resistor with the help of micro-controller like PIC 16F877. It will provide some intelligence to control the motor. Suppose that you have increased the load on the motor , the micro-controller will detect the current (increase or decrease) and will stop the motor for few minutes (the time can be programmed). Or it can slow down the motor by using PWM technique. you can monitor the motor temperature also. What is the power rating of your motor? I will provide you the completer design. Regards
