Visual Javascript Style IDE/Compiler

This project must be completed using C++ Must integrate Mozilla JavaScript Engine available at: [login to view URL] For form representation, we’re leaning towards a subset of HTML or XUL, but are willing to waive this in the interest of rapid development. Tool essentially has two parts. 1. GUI/Code Developer This will be similar to VB 5 or 6 in presentation, but not as complex. We want a way for users to draw or place interface elements based on elements provided in a sidebar, and set values to those elements by clicking on them. A user should also be able to select an icon for the form or project they are working on. A code view would also be provided. This would allow the end user control over interface elements and anything else that would be reflected in the code. 2. Compiler/Debugger Debugger will use the JavaScript engine to validate the code before it is compiled. It will point to line numbers that the error occurred on at compile time or as the user requests. Compiler will take validated JavaScript source, and compile it into machine code. The process for using this application is as follows: 1. User starts the application 2. User creates or opens a project 3. User creates forms or libraries and adds them to their project. A form or library can be created fresh, or imported from an existing file. 4. Once a new form is in place, a user can choose form elements from a side bar menu. A form element can be assigned behaviours through double-clicking on that element in design view, or editing it in code view. 5. Should be possible to toggle between code view and design view. When coming from code view, the form should re-render itself to reflect the changes, if any. 6. User should be able to save a project, form, or library at any time during this process. 7. Once user is happy with the code, they should be able to perform compile and/or debugging actions. 8. If the code is has made it through the debugger, it should compile the entire project into a standalone executable. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. RIT Spare parts policy RIT encourages the use of Open Source parts in its projects provided that the uses of these parts are well documented. Upon completion of project, a list of pre-existing parts (if any) will be required, along with copies of all applicable licenses. ## Platform Win32 initially, but it would be helpful (but not required) if code was portable to linux.
