Printer class vb trabalhos

Preciso de um software (Desktop) que leia a porta serial do pc e que ao receber um determinado dado, grave a informação em uma base de dados mysql hospedada remotamente. Tenho um funcionado criado em VB 5.0 que envia a informação para um site em php, o qual é encarregado de gravar na base de dados mysql a informação passada por parâmetro. O problema é que este sistema abre uma nova janela do browser todas as vezes que a informação chega. O ideal é que o próprio sistema se conect à base de dados mysql, ou que o navegador seja oculto no próprio sistema. Interessados, enviar propostas!
